FRS Holland on air Sunday evening 1652-2200 UTC

Today FRS-Holland will be on air with full programming.

Opposite to our usual broadcasts, this one will take place in the evening hours between 16:52- 22:00 UTC/ 18:52- 24:00 CEST. FRS-Holland will be on 7685kHz avoiding 7600 and 7595 interference during the first part of the broadcast. 7685 isn't affected by adjacent channels being used by other stations. Especially during the last part of the broadcast it will be interesting if & how signals will be received to the east (Russia, Ukraine etc.). We will take our time...it'll be an 'old fashioned' long FRS broadcast: 5 hours!!. Our full staff will be involved including Paul Graham who was absent for quite some time. This time we will deviate from the usual schedule: 3 blocks of resp. 60s, 70s and 80s tracks, a DX Show and a show with mostly tunes. We will handle no letters, there's no Phrase that Pays, the music comes first! Although each show will include 1 or 2 short radio related items !

We like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of you who responded to our brief evening tests May 22nd (7685). These two 15 min. tests were widely heard across Europe and beyond. For 30 minutes we received some 30 reports. And last but not least: we will soon start replying to the many, many listeners who responded to one or more of our 30th Anniversary broadcasts back in October & November 2010 and February 2011. FRS has produced a special & informative commemorative 30th Anniversary booklet which will be available to each and everyone who sent a report/ letter. This booklet is almost finished. So please have a little more patience, you will get your special QSL card(s) and the booklet. Thanks for your patience and understanding!!

Hope you are able to tune in next Sunday. We hope the full June 19th shows will go out via the Internet one week later, Sunday June 26th. More news about that will follow.

Repeat FRSH 3rd Anniversary broadcast

Dear FRS Friend,

Due to the rather weird propagation conditions last Sunday, FRS-Holland will repeat he final & 3rd FRS 30th Anniversary broadcast
next
Sunday March 6th 2011.
Next Sunday March 6th we will feature the period 1998- 2010. Mind you: we will once again kick off at already 07.52 UTC=08.52 CET.
On an alternative 48 mb frequency, the final hour will be repeated plus an additional hour. Frequency is yet unknown.
We are understandably curious to receive your letters and mails. That's very important for us and that's the only way in which
you can show your respect and interest. So far we are happy with last Sunday's response.
All Anniversary mail will be handled in the upcoming period. Be sure: all correct reports will be verified and all letters answered.

Here's the schedule:
07.52- 14.00 UTC
6221 kHz
09.00- 11.00 UTC
48 metres

Webstream:
the stream will be on between 14.52- 21.00 UTC. Surf to <nednl.net:8000/frsh.m3u>.

A special thank you to each and everyone spreading the news about our Anniversary broadcasts (people who run blogs etc.).

Finally a question: is there anybody whose report/letter for October 31st and/or November 28th was returned to sender?
One of our loyal listeners tried twice to send a letter (with the correct address!) and this was for completely unknown reasons returned to sender!
If so, please let us know by mail!!

30 Years FRS Nov. 21st & 28th

Dear FRS Friend,

Sunday October 31st we kicked off with the first out of a total of 3 different anniversary broadcasts. The FRS Anthology !
During that broadcast our 6005 signal was badly affected by a powerful DRM signal on 6015 between 13-15 UTC. The DRM transmitter splattered some 15 to 20 kHz on both sides and as you will understand we were not happy at all (to say the least).
The responsible Radio 700 person has offered us a free two hour repeat. In particular Jan van Dijks programme was victim of the DRM signal. Therefore his complete 90 min. October 31st show will be repeated tomorrow Sunday November 21st between 09-11 UTC (10-12 CET) on 6005 kHz. He features 1983+1984. Between 10.32-11.00 UTC Peter V. will inform you about next week's second part of our anthology.
Correct reception reports will be verified with our October 31st 2010 QSL.

Next week on the 28th November we will feature the period 1988- 1997. Mind you: the schedule is different from October's broadcast!
Here's the schedule:
08.52- 15.00 UTC
7600//5800 kHz
08.59- 11.00 UTC
6005 kHz
11.00- 15.00 UTC
        5980 kHz

That means no silence on 6005 between 11.00-12.00 UTC but instead we continue for the remaining 4 hours on 5980 (with the same power!).
In this way we avoid 6015 splatter in the afternoon hours.
The November 28th broadcast will be again streamed between 14:52- 21:00 UTC/ 15:52- 22:00 CET via <
http://nednl.net:8000/frsh.m3u>

The period 1998- 2010 will be featured in part 3 and that won't take place in December but on Sunday January 16th 2011

If you feel you want to be part of the celebrations with your personal FRS memories: you can still do so as we can include that in our January 2011 broadcast. For this final Anniversary broadcast
we only accept contributions via mail.
Of course we have special QSLs for the three broadcasts...one based on the 80s, one on the 90s and one on the 00s.
The three different QSLs together form the FRS 30th Anniversary QSL Series.

Hope to have your company next Sundays...it will be great fun November 21st & 28th 2010:
30 Years of FRS-Holland on SW!

Pirate Radio St. Helena

Although we are all disappointed that Radio St. Helena had to cancel its annual Radio St. Helena Day broadcast on 11,092.5 kHz, I have been informed that there will be a substitute transmission one week later from Pirate Radio St. Helena.

The faux Radio St. Helena plans to operate on the familiar 11,092.5 kHz at 2300 UTC on Saturday, October 16th. You can contact the station during its program by using the following e-mail address: piratesainthelena[at]gmail.com. The station is busy building a special dipole antenna designed for just this transmission so reception should be good provided propagation cooperates.

The faux Radio St. Helena is preparing its own special QSL for the occasion. All correct reports will be verified with a special Radio St. Helena Day electronic attachment. Send you report to: piratesainthelena[at]gmail.com.

Good luck!

FRS 30 Years

Hello FRS-Holland Friends,

In the mean time FRS-Holland has officially become 30 Years. That was on Tuesday August 31st.
Following  our previous mail from a few weeks ago, we have received a number of contributions.
We would like to inform you we still hope to receive some more.....if you are/ were an enthusiast FRS listener,
then take your chance to produce a little personal contribution, your personal FRS memories.

Either you put them 1) on a sheet of paper or 2) send  them by mail and 3) most wanted: record your personal message and send an mp3 audio file.
We realize most listeners are no deejays and do not have no recording facilities. Of course any written contribution is as much appreciated as a recorded one!!
All listener's contributions will be collected and together it will be our anthology of 30 years of SW broadcasts. When did you hear us for the first time, what was your favorite show, when did you get your first QSL, how much did you listen to FRS, any special on air moments you remember? All this info could be part of your personal FRS contribution.
Send your contribution to <frs@frsholland.nl> or POBox 2702, 6049 ZG Herten, the Netherlands.

Preparations continue day by day... Many tape recordings have been digitalized and endless audio extracts have been produced.
The broadcast will contain many ingredients...special jingles, a listener's competition, interesting contributions, fantastic music and some nice surprises...
And not to forget a unique FRS 30 years QSL.
Be part of the festivities...we are eagerly awaiting more contributions!!
Very soon we will announce dates as the on air celebrations will be more than one broadcast! The first one in October.

All the best from all of us at FRSH.

On behalf of the FRS Staff,

Peter Verbruggen

FRSH's 30th anniversary

Already some time ago we informed you about the upcoming FRS 30 Years celebrations.
In the mean time we have received a number of contributions,  we feel the on air celebration would be incomplete without our listeners' input!
Of course contributions from colleague SW stations are also very much appreciated.

Still we haven't heard from many listeners whose contribution would be much appreciated. We are talking about many faithful listeners who already tuned long time ago.
For us at FRSH your contribution is 'invaluable' !!

So we once again appeal on you....
Preparations are in an advanced stage and we once again invite you as FRSH listener to participate. Instead of writing a letter following a broadcast, we kindly ask
for your personal FRS memories.
Either you put them 1) on a sheet of paper or send them by mail and 2) most wanted: record your personal message and send an mp3 audio file.

All the best from all of us at FRSH.

FRS - Today on 7600 at 0752-1250 UTC

Dear FRS Friends,

May 2010 broadcast

This ( 6th June ) morning/afternoon FRS-Holland is attempting to repeat last week's broadcast in full on 7600 kHz 07.52- 12.50 UTC. Last week's reception conditions were appalling and of course both listeners and station staff were disappointed about the results. Today we hope we can make up a bit for the disastrous broadcast of last week. Propagation still is quite poor, if the results are once again very poor we might cease before the end of the broadcast! Today June 6th in the afternoon FRS will be on the internet (streaming audio) starting at 13.52 UTC lasting 18.50 UTC. Address is http://nednl.net:8000/frsh.m3u. THis address counts for those who use WMP, Winamp, Real Audio etc.

Zender Postoffice

I will soon be putting a station on air, called Zender Postoffice. For the moment it is online only, but hopefully soon it will be on SW and MW.

The first test transmissions will be on the 20th June 2010 at 18:00 UTC (19:00 UK time), online only. The stream will be opened with silence before hand so you can listen to the very beginning. There is a time delay of about 1 minute on the stream, so the audio may not start until 18:01 UTC. Please send us reports by email to zenderpost@hotmail.com to let us know how the stream went, and we will send you a QSL, either by email or post, which is up to you.
After that will be the proper launch online. The date and time for this has not yet been decided, it depends how the tests go, but it will probably be on a Sunday evening.

After the launch, broadcasts will not be at any specific time, but most live broadcasts will be on Sunday evenings. Pre-recorded shows could be played at any time, most likely weeekends and maybe weekday evenings.
If you would like to get involved, please send an email to zenderpost@hotmail.com

Mike Radio frequency change

This week we changed the antenna system from Mike Radio (NL). We finally succeeded to change the 31 mb antenna into the 41 mb. The frequency is changed from 9.290 into the range 7.5.80 till 7.630.  This means Mike radio can be also heard again in western europe! The antenna works super. The impedance of the antenna is for the working freq. near perfect. Also in 40 mb (ham) the antenna/reception works fine. All QSO (opposite) stations can be heard easy. This morning from the east-USA (nice) receptions of ham stations even when conditions were not that good. The antenna is the inverted V, top on 14 meters, one leg is to the west, the other leg is now more or less in the South East direction (mid/south Germany), the V has ca 120/130 degrees angle. So good news for the next winter-season. This summer we make a homebuild vertical for the 19 mb, the band where conditions next years will improve.

FRS on air late May/ FRS 30 years

Dear FRS Friends,

May 2010 broadcast
Since our February 28th broadcast, FRS has been silent. However: we feel that in this very special year, it's important to keep in touch with our listening audience.
May 30th- on the 5th Sunday- FRS will take to the air from 07.52-12.45 UTC (6400) and 13.52-18.45 UTC (7600).
The morning/ early afternoon shows will be repeated as from 13.52 UTC
onwards. Right now there is still an option to use a 2nd frequency in parallel, we will inform you about that at a later stage. Expect the usual mix of music & information.

2010: 30 Years of FRS-Holland on Short Wave In the mean time FRS is preparing the 30th anniversary which will take placed in October 2010. Five years ago, FRS would have been celebrating its 25th birthday but that celebration had to be cancelled due to personal circumstances. Sad but true. This year things are looking different and we feel it's time to do a big on air celebration. And that will certainly happen!
But: we feel that an on air celebration would be incomplete without our listeners' input! Therefore we explicitly invite you as FRSH listener to participate:

"2010 will be a very special year for all at FRSH: 30 years on the air!  We will be celebrating this later in 2010. We invite our listening audience to participate in the celebrations later this year. We'd like to receive your personal FRS memories. Put them on a sheet of paper or send them by mail and most wanted: record your personal message and send an mp3 audio file. All listener's contributions will be collected and together it will be our anthology of 30 years of SW broadcasts. When did you hear us for the first time, what was your favourite show, when did you get your first QSL, how much did you listen to FRS, any special on air moments you remember? All this info could be part of your personal FRS contribution.  For any serious contribution, we have a nice surprise and that is a promise!"

Important: as we have to do a lot of preparations for that very special broadcast, we urge to send your contribution as soon as possible! frs@frsholland.nl or POBox 2702, 6049 ZG Herten, the Netherlands.

If you have any questions/ remarks, feel free to contact us!!

FRS Repeat next Sunday

Dear FRS Friends,

Sunday Febryuary March 7th
Following last week's 7600//5800 broadcast,
FRS-Holland will again take to the airwaves next Sunday March 7th.
It will be a full repeat lasting fromt 10.52-15.05 UTC/ 11.52- 16.05 CET. Freqs will be 7600//9300 kHz .
We are very interested in reports for both freqs!

FRS 30 years
2010 is a very special year for all at FRSH: 30 years on the air!  We will be celebrating this later in 2010, presumably in October. It is our wish to receive as many personal memories as possible (especially) from dedicated FRS listeners! Most personal is when you record a 1- 2 minute recording (English or German) with your very own memories: When did you hear us for the first time, what was (is) your favourite show, when did you get your first QSL, how much did you listen to FRS, any special on air moments you remember? All this info will be part of your personal FRS contribution.  Any serious contribution will be rewarded later this year. That is a promise! All listener's contributions will be collected and together it will be our anthology of 30 years of SW broadcasts along with our very own memories. Btw: if you cannot record a message, please put your contribution on paper (POBox 2702) or send us a mail . It sounds a bit weird but w'd like to receive your contribution as soon as possible. There's a lot to prepare and having contributions at an early stage really helps. we count on you.an mp3 would be easy, isn't it?
